Academics ​ APPAREL AND TEXTILES INTERIOR DESIGN Graduate study The AT major prepares students for merchandising, management, design, and production careers in retailing and/or the textile and apparel industry. The major is also appropriate for students who are interested in pursuing a wide variety of entrepreneurial opportunities in fashion retailing, textiles, and/or apparel. Students may concentrate in apparel design or fashion retailing. The program strives to create student motivation for excellence based in the knowledge of the principles and elements of design and their appropriate application to the built environment. Faculty are committed to providing opportunities for students to develop a multicultural and global awareness of human needs through class projects, lectures, and other opportunities. Students in the graduate area of study may concentrate in the behavioral aspects of clothing; the international aspects of textiles and apparel; or historic costume and textiles. The program prepares students for careers in college teaching, research, extension, education administration, marketing, consumer service, product development/evaluation, and entrepreneurship. Computer Services The College of Human Environmental Sciences has three instructional computer labs and one open computer lab, which provide supervised environments where students may gain knowledge and experience in computer applications. The labs also supply CHES faculty with state of the art computer facilities and training to aid teaching and research activities. HES Open Computer Lab: 135 Adams Hall Hours: Monday – Thursday 8:30am – 11:00pm Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm Sunday 2:00pm – 10:00pm Instructional Computer Labs include: 203 Child Development Resources 115 East Annex 310 Doster Hall The labs are monitored by student lab assistants to help students and faculty with troubleshooting general software and general hardware problems. The student lab assistants will not do computer projects for other students. All students are expected to do their own work and learn how to use the various software programs on their own. Transient Students Current UA students wishing to take courses at another university or community college will need to complete a transient letter to give to that respective institution. Please follow these steps to generate a letter of transiency: 1. In myBama, click the “Student” tab. 2. Under Banner Self-Service, click the link “Letter of Transiency.” 3. Choose the term, state, and school (institution). Verify the institution address is correct. 4. Click the “Select Transfer Courses” to proceed to the next screen. 5.
